Moon Under Fawn & Drops of Life

"Moon Under Fawn"
Going to Salmon Creek in the early Spring brings bountiful, beautiful life in many forms.  This watercolor and ink is all about the breath of life coming from strong waters, gentle moon, vitality and renewal of life every Spring.  Fawn lilies are one of the first signs of life after winter and just the most delicate, tender blooms.

"Drops of Life"
Water comes from the sky, from beneath the Earth's surface, and covers 71% of the Earth's Surface.  It is a source of life and a source of inspiration for many of my paintings.  Here I am trying to capture the rare event of water giving life to the desert.  It is reminiscent of my travels to Moab, where I have been lucky enough to see and bike amongst gorgeous red rocks both Spring 2010 and 2011.

Riding the Umpqua

Eugene and I are just finishing a phenomenal ride on the Umpqua...my first introduction to the trail - only covered less than a third of the singletrack, but had a super fun detour doing a bit of the hike-a-bike style climbing up Dread and Terror Ridge...then some epic super steep, duffy, rocky riding downhill - oh yeah!  Right after we rode across this bridge we found a bit of our dinner: Coprinus cotatus, also known as Shaggy Mane mushrooms...it was a day or two after my Mom's 5oth, so be on the lookout for yummy mushies in mid October!
